Egoyan was natural to Joseph & Shushan Yeghoyan around Cairo, Egypt and was raised in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. As a teen, he became concerned around reading & writing plays. Important influences involved Samuel Beckett and Harold Pinter. He graduated from either Trinity College in the University of Toronto. Egoyan is today depending inside Toronto, where he swallow his married woman, Arsinée Khanjian, an actress who appears around numerous of Egoyan's films, & their boy, Arshile.

Egoyan has directed the twelve good-length films, many television episodes, & two or three shorter pieces. His early function was according to his have poop, & he received a bit of notice for the film Exotica (1994), but it was Egoyan's foremost attempt at altered poop that resulted within his right-known function, The Sweet Hereafter (1997), which landed him an Academy Award nomination for Best Director. Ararat later won a Right Picture prize at the Genie Awards (ironically, he failed to receive a Better Director nomination for the equivalent film).
